The real thing is far more thrilling than the cyber walk.

Right Valley Side | Left Valley Side
The Boulder Loop track starts on the left valley side of the  Wairere Boulders.  It can be enjoyed even in wet conditions.  It takes about 1 hour to walk the track.  Good walking shoes are still necessary as the ground can be slippery or the metal can be loose and roll.

The track leads over many stairs,  steps and bridges up the valley to the lower part of the boulders.

There is a side loop which is worth seeing, the Dragon's Cave.

All tracks are open
all year round

The track on the right side of the valley is a continuation of the Boulder Loop (which starts on the left side) and leads up through a stunning Nikau forest to the Bush Pool. From there it returns to the parking following the right river side.

If you want to see the valley from the top,  you have to walk up to the platform which is an additional  hour (return).

The track leads along the right valley side up to the platform.

From there one can enjoy the view downwards over the boulder valley,   right down to the waters of the Hokianga Harbour.
